Charges laid after man fatally stabbed in Bankstown

Two men have been charged following the death of another man in hospital after a stabbing in Bankstown, NSW Police say.

Just after 3am (Saturday 28 July 2018), emergency services were called to a unit on Meredith Street, following an altercation.

Officers found a 27-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his abdomen. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital and placed on life support.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command arrested two men, aged 26 and 23, at the unit and established a crime scene.

Both men were taken to Bankstown Police Station.

About 9pm, the man’s life support was switched off and he died.

The 23-year-old man was charged with common assault (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) and armed with intent to commit indictable offence.

The 26-year-old man was charged with murder and assault officer in execution of duty.

Both men were refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 29 July 2018).
