Charges have been laid after a teenage boy died following a crash on the Central Coast this morning.
About 1.30am (Wednesday 32 July 2024), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, Charmhaven, following reports of a single vehicle crash.
Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District arrived to find a station wagon had hit a tree.
A 17-year-old male passenger died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
The 19-year-old female driver left the scene but was later located a short time later.
She was taken to Gosford Hospital for the treatment of injuries sustained during the crash.
A crime scene was established, with officers commencing an investigation into circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a bedside hearing today, the driver was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death, and drive while suspended.
She was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Wyong Local Court on Monday 26 August 2024.
She was also issued a subsequent suspension notice.
