Charges laid over cross-border fraud, NSW

Police from Oxley Police District have charged a man after a vehicle was allegedly involved in a cross-border fraud.

On Tuesday 27 March 2018, a Toyota Landcruiser was reported stolen to Queensland Police.

After receiving information, police from Oxley Police District launched an investigation and attended an auto repair shop in Wallabadah, where a Toyota Landcruiser was recovered.


About 1.20pm on Monday 10 April 2018, investigators attended a rural property on the New England Highway at Gowrie, and arrested a 29-year-old man.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with receive property stolen outside NSW, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and three outstanding warrants.

The man was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Wednesday 11 April 2018).
