Charges upgraded after fatal stabbing in Ascot Vale

Homicide Squad detectives have today upgraded the charges in relation to a fatal stabbing in Ascot Vale last month.

A 27-year-old woman was initially charged with a number of offences in relation to the incident, including seriously cause injury.

Investigators have now upgraded this to a charge of one count of murder.

She will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 8 February.

The charge follows an incident when a 57-year-old Ascot Vale woman was allegedly stabbed at her property on Wingate Avenue on 21 January.

She was subsequently conveyed to hospital, however she passed away on 29 January.

It's believed the parties involved were known to each other.
