Celebrate, Honour, Excel, Empower, and Recognise
Achievements of the business community will be celebrated at the 'CHEER' Corangamite Business Awards.
Mayor Kate Makin said the name of the awards stands for Celebrate, Honour, Excel, Empower, and Recognise.
"This event has been organized to celebrate the fantastic efforts and achievements of our local business sector," Cr Makin said.
"It is an opportunity to recognize their huge contribution to the Shire's economy and community. The awards are a response to public demand during the Grow and Prosper Corangamite Economy and Prosperity Framework consultation in 2023.
"The presentation night on Wednesday 18 June at the Camperdown Theatre Royal will bring together business owners to celebrate, network and share."
Awards will be presented in five categories:
- Growers and Producers: primary producers that contribute positively to the local community and embody business excellence.
- Outstanding Customer Service: businesses that demonstrate commitment to achieving excellence throughout the entire customer journey.
- Circular Solutions: businesses that have shown commitment to sustainable and circular economy practices—recycling, re-using, repairing, re-purposing and re-designing.
- Future Shapers: businesses that have used innovative solutions to improve their industry sector and / or business community on a customer, social, environmental or business efficiency level.
- Tourism Excellence: businesses that have contributed to the visitor economy with a commitment to improve social, economic or environmental impacts, providing a positive destination experience that increases visitation to Corangamite Shire.
Cr Makin said the Economy and Prosperity team would help businesses to apply, ensuring it is a simple and stress-free process via an online application form.
"Entries open Monday 24 February and close Monday 7 April with independent judges selecting the winners. Details of the categories and how to apply are on the Council website at corangamite.vic.gov.au/Awards.
