Macedon Ranges Shire Council appointed Bernie O'Sullivan as Chief Executive Officer at the Scheduled Council meeting on Wednesday 24th March 2021.
Mr O'Sullivan is currently in the position of Director Strategy and Growth at the City of Greater Bendigo. Prior to that Mr O'Sullivan was Acting Chief Executive Officer at the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA VIC) and worked as Deputy Secretary, Regional Services for the Victorian Departments of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), and Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI). He also worked in senior leadership roles in Sydney and Canberra for 15 years in policy, management and advocacy.
Mr O'Sullivan will commence with Council on 10 May 2021 and will work with Council to finalise and achieve the objectives of the new Council Plan. He will be focused on engaging with community and businesses, delivering on capital works projects, and ensuring the organisation is able to deliver a strong customer experience through the use of contemporary technology.
Mr O'Sullivan said he was looking forward to working together with Council, staff and the community.

Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the appointment of Mr O'Sullivan followed a national recruitment campaign that attracted a very high standard of candidates.
"Bernie O'Sullivan brings a wealth of experience in leadership and a strong understanding of the issues impacting regional Victoria, especially in the Loddon Mallee region which we are a part of. We are very excited to have someone of Bernie's calibre and local knowledge join our team. We look forward to working together on continually improving the delivery of a high standard of services and infrastructure to all members of our community, whilst we protect and enhance the local amenity and environment that attracts people to work live and visit the Macedon Ranges".
Bernie will replace John Nevins who has been Acting Chief Executive Officer since 21 October 2020 following the resignation of former Chief Executive Officer Margot Stork. Mr Nevins will be finishing with Council on 21 April 2021 and Angela Hughes will be acting as Chief Executive Officer until Mr O'Sullivan commences.
