Chifley Police District officers have charged 11 people and have seized multiple firearms and weapons as they target firearm, drug and property offences in the Lithgow area under Operation Suppress.
Between Tuesday 1 April 2025 and Wednesday 2 April 2025, officers attached to Chifley Police District commenced Operation Suppress with the goal of proactively targeting dangerous offenders across the Lithgow area.
Operation Suppress officers were assisted by officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit, Dog Unit, North-West Metropolitan Operations Support Group, and Blue Mountains Police Area Command.
During the operation, police executed 16 search warrants, conducted seven Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance checks, 334 random breath tests, and 29 random drug tests.
As a result of the operation, police located and seized over $20,000 cash, three firearms, four prohibited weapons, ammunition, 700 grams of cannabis, 28 grams of methylamphetamine, smalls amount of heroin and MDMA and 18 cannabis plants.
Police also charged 11 people with offences ranging from assault, supplying prohibited drugs, dealing with proceeds of crime, larceny and manufacturing prohibited firearms.
Superintendent Darren Beeche, Commander of Chifley Police District, said that Operation Suppress will run multiple times a year in order to saturate all areas across the police district.
"This operation will be the first of many with goal of suppressing criminal activity across the Chifley region," Supt Beeche said.
"Many known offenders think they can get away with their crimes if they fly under the radar, this operation is designed to show that they can't.
"I intend to run this operation far more extensively throughout this year to target a large range of different offenders, and I hope those who think about reoffending get the message that any criminal activity will not be tolerated," he said.
