Child Sex Offence Charges At Blackwater

Detectives from Blackwater Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 32-year-old Blackwater man with child sex offences following extensive investigations into the alleged grooming of a child online between 2021 and 2024.

Police will allege between 2021 and 2024 the man used the internet to groom a 14-year-old boy before engaging in an online sexual act.

A report was made to police in August 2024, and extensive investigations lead police to execute a search warrant at a Blackwater address yesterday, February 18, where a number of devices were seized, and a 32-year-old man taken into custody.

He has been charged with one count each of using the internet to procure children under 16, grooming child under 16 years, indecent treatment of children under 16 years and Indecent Act.

He has been refused police bail and is due to appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court today, February 19.

Investigations are ongoing.
