Western Downs Regional Council is sharing a message of body positivity and inclusion through a free screening of the inspiring 'Embrace: Kids' documentary at Western Downs Cinemas at Chinchilla on 13 January 2025.

The 'Embrace Kids' documentary by internationally recognised body image advocate Taryn Brumfit explores an important message about body image aimed at helping children understand how advertising, social media and celebrity culture can shape body perceptions.

Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Peter Saxelby said Council is committed to supporting community initiatives that support the health and wellbeing of the region's youth.

"Children have different personalities, different strengths and love different things, and Council is proud to empower our communities to bring these kinds of opportunities to the region," Cr Saxelby said.

"The free screening is a great way to not only entertain the kids during the school holidays but also leaves a lasting impression that celebrates body positivity.

"This documentary should be shown to as many children as possible to help combat the increasing societal pressures to look a certain way.

"With an emphasis on anti-bullying, this film creates a meaningful impact about how to be supportive of each other and work together."
