Defra is pleased to confirm today the appointment of Ofwat Senior Director Chris Walters to the Ofwat Board.
Chris joined Ofwat - the independent economic regulator of water services in England and Wales - in June to take up the role of Senior Director for Price Reviews. Chris will lead the PR24 process which sets the price, service, and incentive package for water companies from 2025 - 2030.
Chris' appointment follows a fair and open recruitment process by Ofwat and his subsequent appointment to the board has been approved by the Environment Secretary.
Chris joined Ofwat from NHS England where he has been Director of Pricing and Costing since 2015. He replaces Aileen Armstrong who has left to take up a new role outside the water sector.

- Chris has held senior roles at the UK's competition watchdogs, the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition and Markets Authority, including as Chief Economist.
- He has a PhD in econometrics from the London Business School and degrees in economics from the LSE and the University of London.
