There is just over one month remaining to get your nominations in for the 2025 Campaspe Shire Citizen Awards.
Do you know a local hero or a community organisation or group that makes a difference in Campaspe Shire? Nominations for the Campaspe Shire Citizen Awards recognise those people and groups in our community who go the extra mile in their contributions and service across our shire in areas including sports, youth or seniors' programs, the arts, disability or community services, just to name a few.
These awards are among the highest honours a council can bestow to publicly acknowledge local heroes and their dedication to making their community a better place. The awards also provide an opportunity for residents to acknowledge and celebrate these exceptional individuals and community groups.
Nominees must live within Campaspe Shire and can be entered into one of three categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and Community Group of the Year.
All nominees and nominators will be invited to attend the award announcements, which will be held during the week prior to Australia Day.
Campaspe Shire Council Director Communities Jo Bradshaw encouraged nominations to be submitted from across the shire.
"We know there are so many people who make a huge impact on the communities they live in through volunteering across many areas whether it be sports, arts or other community services.
"We want to make sure these local heroes are given the recognition they deserve," Ms Bradshaw added.
Previous winners include Mr Don Hicks OAM of Echuca in 2023 for his services to sporting and community organisations, and Mr Mick Simpson of Kyabram in 2022 for raising dementia support and awareness, as well as community volunteer work.
Online nominations are encouraged but hard copies are also available from Council's website or Customer Service Centres. For selection criteria and to submit a nomination, click here . Entries close on Sunday, 1 December 2024 at 11.59pm.
