The City of Greater Geelong will once again show its commitment to a world where everyone is respected by supporting the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence.
The 16 Days of Activism campaign begins on Monday 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and will run until Tuesday 10 December, Human Rights Day.
The City will show its support for the campaign in collaboration with Respect 2040, a Barwon South West regional partnership committed to the elimination of violence against women, and the Zonta Club of Geelong.
The launch of the 16 Days of Activism campaign will take place at Johnstone Park on Sunday 24 November and will be led by the Zonta Club of Geelong.
The City will also join local partners to light City landmarks orange, with the colour orange symbolising a brighter future free of violence.

Domestic abuse and gender-based violence are global issues, and no part of society is immune.Violence against women is a widespread problem in Australia but it is also preventable if we change the culture that allows it to happen.
That change starts with promoting a culture of respect, which is about building healthy, equal relationships.
Over the next 16 days, it is up to all of us to take meaningful action to share information and have conversations, no matter how difficult they may be.

The 16 Days of Activism Community Launch event starts at 10.00 am, and those interested in participating are encouraged to meet at 55 Ryrie Street, Geelong, at 9.45 am.
