Protecting the lifestyle Gold Coasters value is a key focus of the 2024-25 City Budget.
"Our community centres, libraries and sports and aquatic centres are central to the Gold Coast lifestyle we all love, so we have committed record funding to maintain, improve and expand these valued facilities right across the city,'' Mayor Tom Tate said today.
"We saw from the Christmas/New Year storms the value of investing in projects such as our state-of-the-art Disaster and Emergency Management Centre.
"Community groups regularly go above and beyond, including during challenging times so we have increased funding for our community grants programs.
"Lifeguards protect 20 million beachgoers annually and conduct around 2,000 rescues so in this budget we will provide increased funding for our lifeguard services.
Mayor Tate said caring for our valued senior residents will always be a key focus.
"As well as community programs that support our seniors, we have continued our free seniors and veterans bus travel'' he said.
"Across so many areas, this budget protects our Gold Coast lifestyle."
