This Australia Day Perth's riverfront will shine bright with hours of family-friendly entertainment, and a show-stopping fireworks and drone display thanks to Hancock Prospecting.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the Hancock Prospecting Australia Day celebrations is an opportunity to come together to reflect, respect, and celebrate Australia's unique and diverse culture.
"What a great way to celebrate in the City, enjoy a beautiful summer day, and celebrate what it means to be Australian," Mr Zempilas said.
On this special day, the City also welcomes new Australian citizens hailing from countries across the world at the Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony. The Ceremony also sees the City honour local heroes through the Community Citizen of the Year Awards.
"We encourage everyone to make their way into the City to enjoy a range of cultural experiences, music, entertainment, rides and international cuisine. Bring your friends and family, set up for the day by the Derbarl Yerrigan / Swan River and watch the sky light up as we show our gratitude for the city and lifestyle we know and love," Mr Zempilas said.
"Immerse yourself in the world's oldest living culture at the Birak Concert on Supreme Court Gardens from 3pm. Experience homegrown music, hands-on workshops, and enjoy an inflatable obstacle course and waterslides. Explore market stalls and enjoy the creativity, connection, and the rich traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
"Just a quick walk across to Langley Park and from 3pm you'll be spoilt for choice with more than a kilometre of non-stop family fun, action-packed activities, and excitement for all ages. Indulge in Australia's diverse culture and try dishes from around the globe.
The Lord Mayor said Perth's biggest and best drone and fireworks display would start at 8:30pm. Get ready for the sky above the Swan River to burst with colour during a 30-minute show of dazzling drones and sparkling fireworks, all to a classic Aussie soundtrack!
A reminder that the Hancock Prospecting Australia Day celebrations, including the soundtrack, is best experienced from Langley Park. To enjoy the full experience, families are encouraged to come into the City early and enjoy everything our great City of Light has to offer.
Joining the celebrations has never been easier. Take the free public transport right into Elizabeth Quay or make use of the free parking in any City of Perth Bay from 6pm. There's no better way to celebrate the Australian spirit, than taking in the atmosphere along the riverfront.
Everyone is encouraged to take note of road closures and plan their journey to and from the event. For those driving into the city, a road closure map and list of carparks are available on the Visit Perth website. Public transport is also free for everyone with a SmartRider. If you haven't got a SmartRider yet, make sure you plan ahead and get one before the day – details here.
