A commitment to delivering excellence for its community is paying off with the City of Whittlesea being named finalists and winners in a series of industry awards recently.
The City of Whittlesea took home three out of five National Awards at the National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) Awards recently.
Built Environment Award: for the Affordable Housing Project in New Epping in partnership with Riverlee and Haven Home Safe
Building Connections Award: For Council's Economic Participation Plan 2023-2026
Leadership in Growth Areas Award: for working in collaboration with Mitchell Shire Council and Hume City Council in planning the Cloverton Metropolitan Activity centre; this partnership included Victoria's first joint Council Meeting.
It was also recognised for working in partnership with First Peoples with a 2024 Maggolee Award for the Quarry Hills Future Directions Plan. In Woi Wurrung, the language of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, Maggolee means here in this place. Maggolee Awards recognise Victorian local governments working in partnership with First Peoples. The Quarry Hills Future Directions Plan reflects the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung cultural values as a framework for recognition, protection and enhancement of the parkland.
The City of Whittlesea also won a coveted Gold award at the Australasian Reporting Awards for its 2022-23 Annual Report.
At the recent Parks and Leisure Australia (VIC/TAS) awards, the City of Whittlesea, Mitchell Shire Council and Hume City Council won the Strategic and Master Planning category for their collaboration on the Cloverton Regional Community and Recreation Needs Assessment. The assessment is an important piece of work in the planning for the new Cloverton Metropolitan Activity Centre to be established in Kalkallo. It is predicted that Cloverton will be home to 10,000 people in the city centre and an estimated 380,000 people in the wider area, making good planning absolutely essential.
Council was a finalist in two other categories including in the Community Based Initiative of the Year Award category for the Cloverton historical joint Council Meeting, and in the Playspace Award (>$500,000) category for the Redleap Recreation Reserve Playspace.
And the City of Whittlesea was named a finalist in four categories in the recent Local Government Professionals Awards for Excellence:
Innovative Management Initiative - for the Integrated Planning, outcomes and Measurement Framework project which help sets the strategic direction for delivering on Council's vision of A Place for All
Service Delivery initiative - for our Voice of Customer project which seeks to improve customer service outcomes for the City of Whittlesea community.
Young Achiever to staff member Ryan who is currently the Acting Manager Compliance and Environmental Health
Community & Integrated Planning Award - also for the Integrated Planning, Outcomes and Measurement Framework project
