Townsville libraries' doors will be closed to the public this Thursday as Council staff undergo training.
Mayor Troy Thompson said the Citylibraries closures would enable the city's three libraries' and mobile library staff to come together to complete annual training.
"We apologise for any inconvenience to the community for Thursday's closures, of our Aitkenvale, Flinders Street, Riverway and mobile libraries, however it's crucial Council's staff are up to date with the latest training to ensure the safety of our library-goers," Cr Thompson said.
"Council is committed to ensuring our staff receive best-practice training so they can continue to provide world-class services to every aspect of Council's business."
Councillor Thompson said the Riverway Customer Service desk would also be closed for the day, directing people to Council's SERVE Centre in the city, or to call 13 48 10 for any enquiries.
"We have a terrific team in our customer experience section and they are so easy to deal with, either in person, on the phone or on the click to chat feature on our website," he said.
"Our libraries provide such a wonderful experience for our community and are amazing facilities with the inclusion of creative spaces, an abundance of local history and activities and programs.
"While our Citylibraries may be closed for the day, our eLibrary services will still be available during this time, and all branches will resume their normal opening times on Friday."
Council's Citylibraries Branches will be closed on Thursday 5 September and reopen on Friday 6 September, 2024.
