Civilian employee charged

A NSW Police Force civilian employee has been charged following an investigation into the alleged sharing of child abuse material.

In October 2021, officers from the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation after receiving reports the employee was allegedly involved in sharing child abuse material on a phone platform.

Following inquiries, a 56-year-old man from a specialist command was today (Thursday 10 March 2022) charged with six counts of using a carriage service to transmit child abuse material.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Hornsby Local Court on Tuesday 29 March 2022.

The man's employment status is under review.
