Civilian Employee Charged - Specialist Command

A civilian NSW Police Force employee has been charged for allegedly accessing restricted data.

In May 2024, Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District commenced an investigation regarding unlawful access to data held on the Police computer system.

Following inquiries, about 8.50am today (Monday 15 July 2024), a 27-year-old man was arrested at Shellharbour and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with access/modify restricted data held in computer.

The man – attached to a specialist command – was granted conditional bail to appear before Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 21 August 2024.

The officers' employment status will be reviewed.
