Civilian employee charged - Western Region

A civilian employee has been charged over an alleged assault in the state's west overnight.

About 1am (Saturday 16 September 2023), police were called to a business in Broken Hill, following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District arrived to find a 38-year-old man with facial injuries.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene for his injuries.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 34-year-old man.

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with common assault.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Broken Hill Local Court on Tuesday 14 November 2023.

The man – who was off-duty at the time – is a civilian employee in Western Region. His employment status is under review.
