Clean Green Electric Trains Debut at Wildlife Park

The Territory Wildlife Park is excited to announce the arrival of two new electric trains, replacing the old diesel trains that have been a beloved feature of the park for both Territorians and tourists since 1989.

This exciting milestone reflects the park's ongoing commitment to sustainability and enhancing the visitor experience. The new environmentally friendly electric trains are a major step in reducing the park's environmental impact while offering a quieter and more comfortable way for visitors to explore the park's stunning landscapes.

The trains are powered by rechargeable lithium batteries, with a 5-year life expectancy and can seat up to 74 guests, ensuring plenty of space for everyone. With modern safety features such as a low to the ground design for easy access, doors equipped with a safety locking system and CCTV monitoring for added security across all carriages, they will be a wonderful addition to the park.

The new trains promise a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors, including the installation of rain curtains for added comfort during the wet season.

These new electric trains provide an efficient and modern hop-on and hop-off transport option, making it more enjoyable for visitors to travel between exhibits and enjoy the park's breathtaking wildlife and natural surroundings.

Since its opening in 1989, the Territory Wildlife Park has been a centre for conservation, research and education connecting both Territorians and visitors with the region's rich biodiversity through engaging wildlife encounters. Last year 48,000 visitors explored the park; a number that continues to rise as the park becomes an even more popular attraction.

The electric trains play an integral role in the park's strategic goals for sustainable operations, replacing the old diesel models and helping to reduce the park's carbon footprint.

"The Territory Wildlife Park holds a special place in the hearts of Territorians, offering visitors a unique opportunity to observe native wildlife thriving in natural habitats and to connect with the diverse ecosystems that make our region so special," said Suzana Bishop, CEO.

"I encourage everyone to come and enjoy the new trains and explore all that the park has to offer. If you haven't visited for a while or are hosting visiting friends or relatives, it's a great opportunity to re-engage with this beloved facility."

The Territory Wildlife Park is open daily from 9am to 3pm during the wet season and from 9am to 4pm during the dry season (except for Christmas Day).
