Clean Up Australia Day: Bayside 21 February

Bayside Council is supporting Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 2 March and encouraging all residents to register to take part.

Clean Up Australia Day is Australia's largest community-based environmental event that has inspired local communities to help improve our environment and eliminate litter.

Bayside Council supports Clean Up Australia Day each year with Council staff offering roving support on the day, directing volunteer groups to areas that need attention and supplying additional waste bags and gloves if required. Council staff will collect and dispose of the waste collected on the day.

Bayside residents have embraced Clean Up Australia Day and have helped remove tonnes of waste from our foreshore areas, bushland and parks.

Cigarette butts, PET bottles and glass bottles typically make up the bulk of rubbish collected in Bayside on the day.

Everyone wanting to take part is encouraged to register on the Clean Up Australia website.

Mayor Edward McDougall said:

"Our community has always supported Clean Up Australia Day and it is wonderful to see families, schools and businesses turn out to help clean up our beautiful foreshore and other natural areas."
