Clifton Springs Boat Harbour - shallow entrance at low tides

Vessel operators are warned that the entrance to the Clifton Springs Boat Harbour (CSBH) may be shallow at low tides and restricted by seagrass wrack.

Maintenance dredging of the harbour occurred in December 2022. However, the area external to the entrance is not dredged and there are shallow banks in the vicinity. Exceptional seagrass growth on the Bellarine Banks in recent years, is contributing to infill of the harbour channels by seagrass wrack and is being monitored. Vessel operators are urged to take extra care at predicted tide levels below 0.4m.

The City, with financial support from Better Boating Victoria, is preparing a Dredging Management Plan 2023-2032 for CSBH. This Plan will identify an optimal harbour depth and proposed maintenance and capital dredging arrangements for the Harbour consistent with State Government requirements.
