Climate Group Inducts New Member to India Advisory Group

New Dehi, 21 May 2024: Climate Group is proud to welcome Ms. Gauri Singh in its India Advisory Group (IAG). Ms. Singh, the Deputy Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), is the fifth among leading figures in business and multilateral institutions to join the IAG in recent years. The IAG advises on Climate Group's work in India.

Ms. Singh brings with her more than 30 years of experience in policy, advocacy and project implementation of renewable energy and sustainable development in India and internationally.

Dr. Divya Sharma, India Executive Director, Climate Group said on the joining: "Our India Advisory Group is comprised of the best in their field. Over the last 15 years, we've taken many strides and have worked with 15 governments and 150 businesses on issues ranging from decarbonisation of the energy sector to clean transport. The expertise of IAG members has been invaluable for us in driving forward these programmes and our mission toward net zero.

"Ms. Singh's acceptance to become a member of this esteemed group will be a boost to our understanding of large-scale renewable energy implementation in this crucial decade for climate action."

Current IAG members are:

  • Abyd Karmali, Managing Director, Climate Finance at Bank of America Merrill Lynch,
  • Ameya Prabhu, Managing Director of Duesberg Bosson Financial Services,
  • Dr. Shalini Sarin, an Independent Director on different boards and who has more than 35 years of experience in various corporates &
  • Uday Khemka, Vice Chairman of the SUN Group.

The India Advisory Group is a voluntary membership and was constituted to play an important role in driving Climate Group India's ambitions. The IAG members bring with them a plethora of knowledge, experience and strategic understanding to help Climate Group in its outreach to businesses and governments. They also act as ambassadors of Climate Group in accelerating climate action in India.
