A 42-year-old Doncaster East man had a lucky escape after his car was left hanging over a 5m drop in Doncaster East last night.
He landed himself in trouble when he allegedly reversed through a garden bed, before crashing into a fence and ending up with his car precariously balanced on the edge of a retaining wall at a Blackburn Road shopping centre about 6.25pm.
The car was winched up by Fire Rescue Victoria with the man still inside and then pulled back to safety in the car park.
Officers spoke to the driver, who allegedly returned a reading of .255 on an evidentiary breath test which is more than five times the legal limit.
His licence was immediately suspended and he is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving offences.
