Council is temporarily closing the area under the old timber bridge over the Coliban River in Lauriston, adjacent Reservoir Road.
This area is being closed for the protection of community members using this area for recreational activities. Council's recent bridge inspection identified some concerns regarding the old timber bridge structure. As a result, there will be a further structural assessment undertaken.
Director Assets and Operations, Shane Walden said "The changes have been made to ensure public safety and allow opportunity for a detailed inspection to inform further action".
Council will update the community on the status of the bridge once this structural assessment is complete.
