Belmont Police have charged a 31-year-old man in relation to the stealing of a Ford Mustang from a residence in Cloverdale yesterday afternoon, Saturday 13 March 2021.
Sometime late in the afternoon a man forced entry to a residence on Fisher Street and stole a Ford Mustang. The vehicle was reported stolen and several Police units were deployed to patrol the area.
Just after 6:00pm the stolen vehicle was sighted on Great Eastern Highway, near Kooyong Road in Rivervale. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however it will be alleged the driver failed to stop and accelerated away. At the intersection of Orrong Road and Francisco Street the Ford Mustang struck a Toyota Aurion sedan and an Isuzu D-MAX SUV.
The Ford Mustang continued a short distance along Orrong Road before the vehicle stopped and the male driver and female passenger attempted to flee the scene on foot. The 31-year-old male driver and his 28-year-old female passenger were arrested at the scene.
The female driver of the Toyota Aurion was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance after experiencing neck and back pain.
A 31-year-old man from Lockridge has been charged with:
- Steal Motor Vehicle
- Fail to Stop
- Reckless Driving (to evade police)
- No Authority to Drive
- Breach of Bail
- Possess a Prohibited Drug (Methylamphetamine)
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Sunday 14 March 2021. The 28-year-old woman was released without charge.
