CLP Delivering For Territorians From First Day Of 2025

Several new CLP Government initiatives will kick off today across the Territory.

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said the measures delivered on the Government's commitment to rebuild the economy and help Territorians with the cost of living.

"The CLP promised to reduce crime, rebuild the economy, and restore our lifestyle - and we are delivering," said Mrs Finocchiaro.

"From January 1, our payroll tax reforms - the best in the country - will save local businesses an average of $22,000 annually and will abolish payroll tax altogether for 200 small businesses, meaning more money can be invested in apprentices and trainees."

The Government is also tackling cost of living pressures head-on from today including:

· Free Meningococcal B vaccines for all infants under the age of 2, and adolescents aged 14 to 19 years.

· Free driver's licences for one year for 112,000 Territorians.

"This is about saving Territorians time and money, ensuring Territorians are spending less time at MVR and more time enjoying our unique lifestyle," said Mrs Finocchiaro.

"Our free Meningococcal B vaccination program is part of the CLP's plan to lower the cost of living for Territory families. It will remove financial barriers, increase vaccine uptake, and provide protection against the deadly meningococcal disease for 4,200 babies and 18,500 adolescents."

From the start of December, the CLP Government increased the Home and Business Solar Battery Scheme bonus from $5,000 to $12,000.

This will help cut energy bills and support local businesses involved in the supply and installation of solar PV systems and batteries.

Another new cost of living initiative coming this year is free swimming lessons for all primary school students in years 1-6.

"Our free swimming and water safety program in schools will equip young Territorians with lifesaving skills and improve their ability to be safe around water, which is a big part of our fantastic outdoor lifestyle," said Mrs Finocchiaro.

"In just four months, we've laid the foundations for a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Northern Territory. And there's so much more to come.

"As we move into 2025, the CLP Government remains laser-focused on building a better future where the Northern Territory is a competitive place in Australia to live, work, visit and invest."
