CLP Fulfills School's Kiss And Go Promise

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is delivering on its election commitment to upgrade the 'Kiss and Go' at Driver Primary School in Palmerston.

The $1.5 million upgrade aims to improve student safety and traffic congestion during peak drop-off and pick-up times.

CLP Member for Drysdale Clinton Howe was proud to deliver on an election commitment just six months into government.

"We have roughly 450 students here at Driver Primary school, so the flow on is going to be huge for parents in the area, and this will lead to more relaxing morning and afternoon drop offs and pickups," he said.

"The current Kiss and Go has been a major safety issue which I have genuinely been concerned about and that's why coming into Government I pushed hard to begin construction on this project immediately.

"It was a disaster waiting to happen which is why we have moved on it so quickly."

Minister for Education and Training Jo Hersey said the upgrade would also benefit road users who were using this arterial route to get into Palmerston, go into the city, or south along the Stuart Highway.

The upgrades aim to help alleviate congestion during drop-off and pick-up periods, providing enhanced safety, convenience, and accessibility for families, staff and visitors to the school, as well as nearby residents.

Broader community consultation has begun on the concept design for the 'Kiss and Go'.

The design tender is expected to be awarded in March 2025 with construction expected to be completed by Quarter 1, 2026.
