Clubs Benefit From More Than $260,000 In Council Grants

A new roof for the Machans Beach Community Hall, a playground at North Cairns Tigers AFL club, and repairs to floodlighting at Walker Road Sporting Precinct for softball are just some of the projects that will receive funding assistance from Councl's Go Clubs Infrastructure Assistance Grant.

Council today endorsed over $260,000 in funding for 17 local sport, recreation, arts, culture and community clubs to assist with the improvement of facilities.

The following recipients were successful in securing a 2024/2025 Go Clubs Infrastructure Assistance Grant:

  • Bayview Heights Community Kindergarten to install cyclone shutters – $17,024
  • Cairns and District Kart Club to complete minor clubhouse upgrades – $1,786
  • Cairns Hockey to replace Hockey field turf – $22,200
  • Cairns Little Theatre (Rondo Theatre) to install skillion roof over shipping container – $2,954
  • Cairns Pirates Touch Association to install irrigation on the playing field –$19,560
  • Cairns Saints AFL to install solar on clubhouse – $14,872
  • Edmonton Community Kindergarten to install smoke alarms – $3,170
  • Half Moon Bay Golf Club to rectify roof over clubhouse – $8429
  • Henley Street Tennis Club to complete minor clubhouse renewal – $24,810
  • Holloways Beach Community Garden to replace garden beds – $3,746
  • Leichhardt FC to replace tiles in canteen – $12,320
  • Machans Beach Community Association to replace roof – $25,000
  • Mulgrave Combined Cricket Association to complete various security upgrades – $4,999
  • North Cairns Tigers AFL club to install a playground – $24,950
  • Softball FNQ to rectify floodlights – $25,000
  • Tobruk Swim Club to procure/install scoreboard and upgrade public address system – $25,000
  • Trinity Beach Tennis Club to install additional floodlights over courts – $25,000
