The City of Casey is pleased to announce that the new Clyde Township Community Centre is officially open.
On Saturday 29 March, Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen and Tooradin Ward Councillor Jennifer Dizon were joined by State Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale and local community members to officially open the new centre on Valetta Street in Clyde.
"Clyde is rapidly emerging as one of Casey's fastest-growing suburbs, and this state-of-the-art, integrated community hub will be at the heart of it all," Cr Koomen said.
"It will provide a wide range of services and programs, offering a welcoming and supportive space where residents, young and old, can come together, connect, and truly thrive, both now and in the years to come."
Council's new partnership approach to the provision of kindergarten will see Kids First delivering the Clyde Township three-and-four-year-old kindergarten program. There are three kindergarten rooms and an outdoor play space.
The centre is also home to a maternal and child health service, with two consulting suites and a private waiting area. There are multi-purpose spaces where the community can come together for a variety of activities and programs, including Connected Libraries Storytime and Play Matters VIC Sing and Grow music therapy program for children. A large community room can also be hired for programs, activities and private celebrations.
Council received $4.4 million in funding for the project via the Victorian School Building Authority Building Blocks, Capacity Building' Grant stream. Council contributed $455,000 and $5 million of developer contributions were allocated to the project as required under the Clyde Development Contribution Plan.
