A fire which took hold of two factory buildings in Maddingley, near Bacchus Marsh, has been controlled by CFA firefighters this morning.
Crews were called to attend the affected buildings located at Rowsley Station Road just after 11.45pm on Sunday, 20 October.
District 15 Commander Steve Poulter said firefighters arrived to find two buildings alight.
"One building roughly 30 x 20 metres was well alight while another smaller building roughly 15 x 15 metres was partially involved with damage to a conveyor belt."
Commander Poulter said black coal located inside the buildings fuelled the fire and created a challenging task for crews to extinguish the blaze.
"The coal has to be broken apart to be extinguished," Commander Poulter said.
"We used the company's machinery to break apart the coal."
Six CFA vehicles remain on scene to monitor the fire, which has been contained to the black coal.
Fire Investigators will be on scene once the area is deemed safe to determine the cause and the origin of the fire.
