Cockatoo's New Amphitheatre Takes Centre Stage

The amphitheatre and new stage at Alma Treloar Reserve is officially opened following a celebratory event on Friday 28 March.

Local Cockatoo community members, including the Cockatoo Community Childcare, joined Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Jack Kowarzik, Minister Harriet Shing, Member for Monbulk Daniela De Martino MP and Councillor David Nickell at the event.

Mayor Cr Jack Kowarzik was excited to officially unveil the newly upgraded amphitheatre and stage.

"The completion of this project marks a significant milestone in the delivery of the Alma Treloar Reserve Masterplan" he said.

"The amphitheatre and stage have been upgraded to increase inclusion and participation of people with disability by enhancing access and reducing barriers."

Additional works at the reserve include a new shade sail, a picnic and BBQ area, drinking fountain, accessible ramps, seating, tables, and landscaping.

Ranges Ward Councillor David Nickell was pleased to see the completed works delivered for the Cockatoo community and is excited to see the community events, performances and concerts hosted at the new amphitheatre.

"These upgrades will increase the amenity and appeal of the reserve to visitors, significantly reduce the ongoing maintenance and will offer a more comfortable experience for the audience"

"Off the back of this latest milestone at the reserve, I am looking forward to the community engagement on the completion of the dog park that will be commencing soon". Cr Nickell said.

Works have been completed as part of the ongoing implementation of the Alma Treloar Reserve Masterplan, funded by Cardinia Shire Council, the Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs fund and the Federal Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Fund.

To support the infrastructure upgrades, works were also completed on the carpark to now include a total of 42 car spaces, including 3 new accessible spaces.
