Code of Practice for Elimination of Restrictive Practices: Third edition released

The latest version of the Code of Practice for the Elimination ofRestrictive Practices in WA (the Code) has been released, with Plain English and Easy Read versions.

The key changes to the Code include:

The third edition reflects the additional consultation that occurred with specific cultural groups, Aboriginal communities in particular, between the second and third versions of the Code.

It is essential for service providers operating in WA to understand, comply with, and embed the Code in their policies, procedures and their contemporary practices. As stated in the Quality and Safeguards Working Arrangements fortransition to the NDIS in Western Australia, "Each independent evaluation of a service provider or a Disability Services provider focuses on compliance with the Code of Practice under Standard 1 (Indicator of Practice 1.4) and Standard 6 (Indicator of Practice 6.2)."
