To enhance the relationship between the Northern Territory Police Force and the community, Acting Commissioner Michel Murphy APM has announced the Coffee with a Cop initiative will recommence from today.
The Coffee with a Cop program enables community members to have a casual chat with a member of the NT Police Force over a free coffee (or other beverage).
The original concept for the program started in the USA in 2011 to foster communication between Police and their local community and in 2017, NT Police commenced the 'Coffee with a Cop' initiative. Unfortunately COVID-19 impacted community engagement activities in the NT and the program was halted.
Acting Commissioner Michel Murphy APM said
"This program provides the community with the opportunity to sit down and have a chat over coffee. It's a great way for people to ask questions or discover more about NT Policing and current initiatives.
"Community policing and engagement is very important and by recommencing this program, NT Police will be further connected with their local community."
The Coffee with a Cop program will occur at key locations throughout the Northern Territory, each fortnight, starting this Friday. The coffee will be complimentary and provided by NT Police.
