On September 3, Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman and U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello, in partnership with the Sudanese American Public Affairs Association and the Sudanese American Physicians Association, met virtually with members of the Sudanese diaspora. The Deputy Administrator and the Special Envoy reiterated to the Sudanese diaspora community that the United States will continue to support the Sudanese people as this war and man-made famine continues. The discussion focused on U.S. government efforts to provide unimpeded humanitarian assistance to the people of Sudan and to support the protection of civilians, along with ongoing diplomatic efforts to negotiate an end to the war that continues to cause needless suffering for the Sudanese people.
