Collins Goes Limp Fish On Salmon

Liberal Tasmania
  • Jonathon Duniam Shadow Minister for Environment, Shadow Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Liberal Senator for Tasmania
  • Labor Minister and MP for Franklin Julie Collins is trying to walk both sides of the street on salmon, Senator Jonno Duniam said today.

"In the face of opposition from anti-fish farming candidate Peter George, Ms Collins is back-tracking her previous support for the salmon industry at a rate of knots," Senator Duniam said.

"Yesterday, she sounded like a pale version of Mr George, calling for a 'stronger EPA' and 'more transparency' from the salmon industry.

"It won't be hard for the Greens to convince Mr Albanese to hand over the salmon industry in return for forming Government when even his own Minister responsible for fishing has turned against it.

"Only the Liberals can guarantee that we will never, ever sell-out our salmon, mining or forestry industries and their communities in order to keep mainland Greens happy."
