More than 900 students will take to the stage tonight as part of the 45th Combined Primary Schools Band and Choir Annual Concert
The fantastic event is the culmination of a year of dedicated musical study and commitment, with students performing a large range of musical styles and genres in concert bands and a 350 voice choir.
Tonight's performance will showcase four Grade 6 Concert Bands; Blue Gum, Pandani, Sassafras and Waratah, a Combined Grade 5 Concert Band, and a combined choir performing a variety of musical styles and genres.
Student comperes for this evening's performance are Emme Mulcahy and Benjamin Russell from Cambridge Primary School.
Tonight will also include support from 'Band Mentors', a select group students from a number of high schools and colleges that are past members of the Combined Primary Schools Concert Band Program.
This program would not be possible without the outstanding work of many dedicated educators, and it owes its success to the support of principals and the dedicated team of instrumental music and choir teachers.
I would particularly like to acknowledge the many years of dedication and expertise from Mr. Rob Greenwood, Senior Music Programs Officer, who has passionately coordinated this program since 1996.
Under his guidance thousands of students have been given the opportunity to learn and perform and have been inspired to continue their music studies.
