Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-operative (BADAC), Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) and the City of Ballarat will join forces next week to mark the beginning of NAIDOC Week 2024.
The week will begin with a flag raising event at BADAC, 106 Armstrong Street North on Monday, followed by the annual memorial walk to lay a wreath at the grave of Wadawurrung Ancestor, Frank Mullawallah Wilson.
NAIDOC Week is held each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year, NAIDOC Week is being held from Sunday 7 July to Sunday 14 July, with a range of celebrations and events taking place across Ballarat.
The theme for 2024 is 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud', celebrating the unyielding spirit of First Nations communities and inviting all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced.
The newly created Ballarat First Nations Events website lists the week's activities.
