CommBank Junior Matildas Launch Melbourne Training Camp

A fresh cohort of CommBank Junior Matildas' prospects will come together in December for their first activity of the new cycle.

To be held at the Home of the Matildas at La Trobe University in Melbourne, the seven-day training camp will run from 2 - 8 December 2024 and brings together a 24-player squad of promising U-15 players from across the nation.

CommBank Junior Matildas' Head Coach Rae Dower said: "The staff and I are excited to get back to work with an extremely talented group of players. We've been travelling the country scouting via our FIFA / Football Australia Talent Development Scheme matches, while we also witnessed a high quality, highly competitive National Youth Championships this year in July."

"We're confident that we've assembled a group of promising players who are embarking on their first steps to becoming a CommBank Junior Matilda. This is the start of a new cycle, and we now know the path required to secure a birth at the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup 2026.

"With the initiation of yearly FIFA U-17 Women's World Cups starting in 2025, and to be held in Morocco for the next five years, we now have this next 12 months to work hard and prepare for the first step in qualifying," explained Dower.

The squad for the Melbourne training camp comprises of players born on or after 2009 and represent six different Member Federations.

"This is just the beginning for this cohort, and we will continue to run Talent Development Scheme matches across the country in 2025 to give every talented young player the opportunity to be identified and developed," continued Dower.

"There are several players who are unavailable for this camp due to injury, holidays, or who are currently embedded in their respective Ninja A-League Women 2024/25 season, where we made the decision that those players will remain in their club environments during this camp," concluded Dower.
