CommBank ParaMatildas Head Coach Kelly Stirton has selected a 12-player squad to participate in a key training camp in Sydney, which shapes as an important step towards selecting the final squad for the 2024 IFCPF World Cup.
The three-day training camp will take place at Valentine Sports Park, Glenwood from 5-7 July and features a mixture of players from across Australia all vying for their chance to don the green and gold at November's World Cup in Spain.
Only five months remain until the CommBank ParaMatildas squad return to Salou, Spain in November for their second appearance at the IFCPF World Cup after claiming silver in the 2022 edition.
Four uncapped players will feature at the training camp including Lilah Flood (Northern NSW Football), Rebecca Jones (Capital Football), Trinity McPhie (Football QLD) and Rachel Tolson (Football Tasmania).
Complimenting the youthful makeup, are experienced sextet, Rae Anderson (Northern NSW Football), Georgia Beikoff (Football NSW), Tahlia Blanshard (Northern NSW Football), Lainee Harrison (Northern NSW Football), Eloise Northam (Football NSW) and Charlize Tran (Football NSW), who all featured at the 2022 IFCPF World Cup.
Head Coach Kelly Stirton emphasized the importance of this camp in forming the final squad for the World Cup.
"Every opportunity we have to come together as a group is crucial in forming cohesion and chemistry within our team. With the World Cup fast approaching, I'm looking forward to continuing to develop those combinations.
"We had a really strong training camp in Sydney back in April with 12 of those players returning fthis month. Being able to maintain consistency in our squad at this stage will only prove fruitful as our preparations begin to heat up.
"Each player in our program has the potential to be on the plane to Spain in November, but I have the difficult task of selecting only 10 players to represent Australia at the World Cup.
"The CommBank ParaMatildas program has experienced significant success in a short time. We are determined not only to continue that success but to build on it and be a leading force in Women's CP Football worldwide," Stirton concluded.
