CommBank Pararoos, ParaMatildas Launch Undefeated Challenge

The CommBank Pararoos and CommBank ParaMatildas are proud to announce the launch of the Undefeated Challenge, a peer-to-peer fundraising event designed to rally support and raise essential funds to send both teams to the 2024 IFCPF World Cup in Spain.

The Undefeated Challenge is a week-long virtual event where participants can choose to run, walk, swim, ride or roll as far as they can in seven days from Monday 30 September to Sunday 6 October 2024 to raise vital funds to support the teams compete at the World Cup.

The challenge not only supports the CommBank Pararoos and CommBank ParaMatildas - Australia's national men's and women's teams for athletes with cerebral palsy (CP), acquired brain injury (ABI), or symptoms from stroke - but also helps raise awareness of CP Football in Australia. The Undefeated Challenge will also culminate on World CP Day (October 6), shining a further spotlight on the CP Community.

In addition to contributing to the CommBank Pararoos and CommBank ParaMatildas IFCPF World Cup efforts, participants in the Undefeated Challenge will have the chance to win exciting prizes just by signing up. So, whether you are an avid athlete or a casual participant, everyone is welcome to help make a difference.

Pararoos

When speaking about the Undefeated Challenge, CommBank Pararoo Alessandro La Verghetta said: "We've seen Australians really get behind the Pararoos since the 2023 Para Asian Cup on home soil, and that makes me immensely proud to call myself a CommBank Pararoo," La Verghetta said.

"The Undefeated Challenge is another opportunity for fans to support us. We don't just want to win the World Cup, we want to empower other young people living with disability, who just like future Subway Socceroos and CommBank Matildas, dream of wearing green and gold.

"The funds raised through the challenge will go directly to supporting both teams as we prepare to compete at the IFCPF World Cup and aim to make Australia proud," La Verghetta concluded.

CommBank ParaMatilda Carly Salmon said that competing in the IFCPF World Cup would be a dream come true.

"Since debuting for the CommBank ParaMatildas in 2023, I have always dreamed of playing at the World Cup and representing our country on the world stage," Salmon explained.

"The IFCPF World Cup will be a real test for us against some incredible female footballers from across the world. As someone who grew up without a national team to look up to, we believe that by playing on the world stage we can help unlock a generation of opportunities for young girls living with disability."
