Each year we pause on September 29 to remember our fallen colleagues and honour the ultimate sacrifice they made.
With vigils being held all over the State, members of the public are invited to attend their local service to stop and remember the fallen officers who gave so much in the line of duty.
Here are details for the Brisbane vigil and service…
Vigil: QPS Academy, Rudd Street, Oxley, 7pm, Thursday September 28
March: From Police Headquarters, Roma Street, 9am, to King George Square, Friday September 29
Service: Cathedral of St Stephen, 249 Elizabeth Street, 10am, Friday September 29
Traffic closures:
There will be traffic closures and possibly some congestion due to the march.
8am: Garrick and May Street closed between Saul Street and Roma Street
9am: Roma Street closed between Transit Centre Roma Street and King George Square (surrounding roads will be effected including George Street, Turbot Street ramps, Parklands Boulevard)
9.05am: Ann Street closed before King George Square – any traffic on Ann Street at this point will be held in place for up to 15 minutes.
9.30am: expected Roma St and surrounds re-opened
9.30am: right hand lane of Elizabeth Street between Edward and Creek Streets closed, right hand lane Charlotte St between Creek and Edward Streets closed
9.50 to 10am: full closure of Elizabeth Street between Edward Street and Creek Street
11am: all roads open.
