Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), the National University of Singapore and ExxonMobil signed a Singapore Energy Consortium (SEC) membership agreement on 6 October 2023 at NTU Singapore, ahead of the Singapore Energy Centre (SgEC) taking a completely new form as the Singapore Energy Consortium (SEC) from 1 November 2023.
The SgEC was a consortium founded in 2018 by NTU Singapore, NUS and founding members such as ExxonMobil. The Centre aims to create a framework for a long-term partnership between the universities and the industry on both technological and socioeconomic issues in sustainable energy development.
The formal agreement was signed at a ceremony by NTU Vice President (Industry) Prof Lam Khin Yong, ExxonMobile Vice President of Research Dr Dominic Clausi, and NUS Deputy President (Research and Technology) Professor Liu Bin (L-R, as pictured above). Following this, SEC and its first Tier 1 member, ExxonMobil, have entered a one-year commitment, symbolising a commitment to advancing energy research and innovation in Singapore.
The SEC looks forward to leveraging the collective expertise of its member institutions and industry partners to address the complex challenges in the energy sector and drive sustainable solutions.
