We are looking for new members from Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria to join the Committee on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Water Interests (CAWI).
This is an exciting opportunity to advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' inland water rights, values, and interests. Please consider applying if you:
- are an Aboriginal person from WA, SA or Vic
- have ancestral links to your community
- want to influence and drive positive change on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' water rights and interests.
CAWI advocates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' inland water rights, values, and interests with governments and water stakeholders at national and state and territory levels.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples with extensive experience in any of these areas are invited to apply:
- Western and Cultural water rights and interests
- Water science
- Management and leadership
- Advocacy and working with government
- Strategic governance and communications
- Policy and planning.
CAWI is an independent advisory body. CAWI plays a unique role in advising federal, state and territory governments on world-leading water reform initiatives in Australia.
Roles are only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

- Prepare a statement of claims (no more than 2 pages) telling us why you would like to become a CAWI member, including outlining your previous experience, skills, knowledge, experience and expertise. Make sure your statement addresses the skills and desirable expertise and experience section of the position description.
