CBA has today strengthened its service offering for mid-market and large corporates in Australia, with the appointment of two new general managers within its Major Client Group.
The move will see CBA's Craig McQuillen and Jon Coombes appointed to the newly created roles of General Manager Major Client Group (MCG) in Victoria and Queensland respectively.
CBA's Executive General Manager for Major Client Group, Chris Williams, said: "Today's announcement is about creating greater focus on meeting the needs of large businesses in Queensland and Victoria across a range of industries and sectors.
"Craig and Jon have a combined 40 years banking experience, both know their local areas intimately, and are very much tapped into the needs of customers across the two states. They're driven, strategic and innovative but most importantly they know the opportunities that exist and are motivated to help our business customers achieve their visions."
The Major Client Group within the Business Bank was created in 2020 with the intention to provide dedicated lending and banking solutions to large and complex businesses nationally across a diverse range of industries.
The new roles will build on the strong momentum CBA has seen across its Business Banking division. CBA's latest half year results showed business lending volumes grew 1.7 times above system in the 12 months to 31 December 2021. During this period, CBA lent approximately $60 billion to Australian businesses.
"We're seeing strong growth across Queensland and Victoria, with high demand for our best-in-class working capital solutions as customers continue capitalising on the buoyant market conditions. Customers are also gearing up and capitalising on opportunities arising from the opening of domestic and international borders.
"Craig and Jon will join the other CBA leaders already dedicated to MCG with the intention to continue our focus on building excellent outcomes for our customers."
