Almost $40,000 has been shared among 18 community projects in the September round of Surf Coast Shire Council's 2019-20 Small Grants Program.
Grants totalling $38,223.50 were today presented to community organisations across the shire.
The grants ranging from around $400 to $5,000 will provide boosts for a wide array of local projects that benefit the community.
Mayor Rose Hodge congratulated all the successful grant recipients at today's presentation ceremony at the Surf Coast Shire Civic Office.
"A wonderfully diverse mix of projects were presented with grants; from improvements to the Anglesea Community Garden to history trail signage to equipment needed to set up the Surf Coast Volleyball Association."

September 2019 grant recipients:
- Eliza Feely, supported by Surf Coast Arts: $2,000 for artist's fee and materials aiding Aireys Inlet Primary School to develop a book titled 'Waxy Fungoo' which advocates person first, gender later.
- Anglesea and District Historical Society: $510 for purchase of recording equipment to capture oral histories of members of the Anglesea and district community.
- Aireys Inlet Primary School Parents and Friends: $1,998 for bus transport for the school community to attend a Wadawurrung cultural day at Point Impossible, facilitated by the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Corporation.
- Anglesea Community Garden: $2,080 for removal of existing garden netting and replacement with product that meets proposed government legislation.
- Torquay Community Men's Shed: $1,500 for installation of two Laserlite roof panels, lighting and a wall vent in the metal workshop, creating a safer work environment.
- Anglesea Art House: $5,000 for relocation and installation of two fish sculptures from the 2006 Commonwealth Games and completion of general planting and landscaping.
- Torquay and District Historical Society. $5,000 for design and installation of 30 historical information signs, and development of a brochure to promote and support a history trail.
- Lifechanger Foundation: $3,500 for delivery of mentor development and immersive workshops for Torquay College grade six students, culminating in a community 'tribe' event.
- 1st Torquay Scout Group: $2,695 for purchase of tents and cooking equipment to enable scouts to embark on longer hikes and overnight camping.
- Bonnie Upwelling Choir: $2,000 for recording and preserving 'The Christmas Carolvan' with audio and audio-visual recordings.
- Surf Coast Volleyball Association: $1,033 for a first aid kit and first aid training, plus net and ball purchase for establishment of Surf Coast Volleyball Association.
- Upper Barwon Landcare Group: $1,650 for 30 members of Winchelsea Land and Rivercare, Wurdale Landcare and East Otway Landcare to attend a tour led by Wadawurrung elders enhancing knowledge of indigenous history and natural environment.
- Torquay Museum without Walls: $2,500 for purchase of a laptop to manage the group's magazine, social media and website and Torquay history app.
- Heartspace Users Group: $2,710 for employment of a local artist to paint a mural on the external south-facing wall of the Heartspace building.
- Heartspace Users Group - Musical Group: $402 for purchase of a microphone and accessories to upgrade the existing sound system for Bellbrae Heartspace Music Group.
- Modewarre Scout Group: $645 for purchase of 20 lightweight camp seats to replace heavy wooden seats that are difficult to transport and set up.
- Growing Winchelsea: $2,500 for installation of solar lit Christmas trees near the skate park during the festive season.
- Torquay Golf Club: $500 for aiding production of a 100-page book, 30-minute audio visual show and 10 banners recognising key club events from the past 100 years.
