The community helped to plant more than 1200 trees and shrubs during National Tree Day at Milton Park, Macquarie Fields, helping to improve ongoing revegetation efforts at the site.

The planting builds on more than 11,000 trees planted across Campbelltown as part of Council's tree planting program over the past year, including 2000 at Milton Park during last year's National Tree Day event, with more planned over the coming months.

"Thank you to everyone who participated in National Tree Day this year, it was a fantastic event and a great opportunity for people to participate in Council's ongoing efforts to plant trees across the city and improve Campbelltown's canopy cover," Mayor Dr George Greiss said.

"The past year has seen a significant number of trees planted and we've got more coming up as part of various park and reserve projects, as well as the Cover Up Campbelltown and Grey to Green street tree planting projects," Dr Greiss said.

Planting projects over the past year include:

  • Campbelltown Grey Headed Flying Fox Camp – 7800 trees
  • National Tree Day 2023: Milton Park – 2000 trees
  • Cook Park, Ruse – 1000 trees
