Community Input Sought for Major School Upgrades

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Liberal Government's School Building Blitz is continuing its momentum, with community consultation now open for the redevelopment of two Greater Hobart schools.

Students, families and the local community are invited to provide feedback on the $29 million redevelopment of Clarence High School and $12 million upgrade of East Derwent Primary School.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the Tasmanian Government is committed to providing students and school staff with the contemporary and fit-for-purpose facilities they deserve.

"Our $188 million School Building Blitz will see major upgrades to 15 schools across the State, as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future," Minister Palmer said.

"Whether it be upgrades to classrooms or outdoor learning areas, we want to hear from students, families and the community about what they want to see at Clarence High School and East Derwent Primary School.

"The feedback received through consultation will help guide master planning and the final scope of works to be delivered for each project.

"We know that providing the best possible facilities for our students and staff supports quality teaching and learning, which is why our Government is continuing to deliver record investment in education infrastructure."

The first phase of consultation for Clarence High School and East Derwent Primary School will be open until 23 March 2025.
