Bega Valley Shire Council invites the community to the reopening of the Bermagui Library on Saturday 16 March from 10am to 2pm.
Council's Library Services Coordinator, Yvette Parker said late last year the Bermagui Library underwent a major refurbishment, transforming it into a fresh, light-filled area with a new multipurpose creative space for community use.
"We have a contemporary entrance and reception area, and a wonderful new area where people can meet, share creative interests, tinker with new technologies and learn as they go," Ms Parker said.
"The Creative Space contains tables, work benches and a kitchen, and we have a 3D printer, digital music consoles, STEM kits, a sewing machine, an overlocker, Lego and Duplo.
"The design and ambiance of this new space will no doubt inspire a multitude of creative projects and skill-sharing."
Ms Parker said the library team is looking to the community for more ideas around how the Creative Space can be used: what other equipment could be purchased and the types of activities people would like to participate in.
"We will have a short survey available at Bermagui Library on the opening day where we hope everyone will share their ideas and aspirations for this great new space," Ms Parker said.
Bermagui Library will be officially reopened by Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick at 10.30am. The celebrations will continue with face painting, STEM demonstrations, clay modelling, 3D printing, lantern making and more. Bermagui Lions Club will run a sausage sizzle and doughnuts outside and light refreshments will be available inside.
The Bermagui Library and Creative Space refurbishment was funded under the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and the NSW Government's Public Library Infrastructure Grants Program.
