Community Invited to Weigh In on Alexandra Oval Lighting Plan

Ararat Rural City Council is currently preparing a grant application for State Government funding to upgrade the sports lighting at Alexandra Oval. To help us understand the way community's ways of using the oval, Council are seeking your input to help inform this project.

The proposed lighting upgrade will bring Alexandra Oval up to current AFL standards, ensuring a safer and more inclusive environment for evening sports and community activities. Enhanced lighting can also contribute to increased participation in sports amongst girls and women, multicultural groups and other diverse groups, creating a more vibrant community space.

The community is invited to participate in this brief survey to share their thoughts; it contains 15 questions and should only take about 10 minutes to complete. Whether you are a member of a local sports club, a regular visitor to Alexandra Oval, or a community member interested in local improvements, your feedback is invaluable in helping us ensure the proposed upgrade meets the needs and expectations of our community as much as possible.

"We want Alexandra Oval to be a space that truly serves its users," says Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison. "The oval's lighting must meet the diverse needs of park-goers. Our aim is to enhance the park's functionality, safety, and appeal for all community members."

The submission deadline for this survey is 5pm on Monday 16 September 2024.
